Mansour Barzegar , Persian منصور برزگر, (Born February 28, 1947 in Tehran ) is a former Iranian freestyle wrestler . He was a participant in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and 1976 in Montreal .

Career

Mansour Barzegar first appeared in an international championship at the age of 25. He started in 1972 in Munich at the Olympic Games in the free style, the style in which he was exclusively active. The Tehran was prepared for this by the coaches Mohammad Ali Sanatkaran , Mansour Mehdizadeh and Parvitz Sirourpur, who also looked after him later. He wrestled throughout his career in welterweight, the weight class that had its weight limit of 74 kg in its time.

In Munich Mansour Barzegar won against Toshitada Yoshida from Japan a . Yuri Gussow from the USSR , fought against Miklos Urbanovics from Hungary and lost against the German Adolf Seger from Freiburg . He finished 5th. At the world championship in 1973 in Tehran, he took advantage of the opportunity to wrestle in front of a local audience and became world welterweight champion there with seven wins . Among the wrestlers he beat were Fred Hempel from the GDR , Jan Karlsson from Sweden and others. Ruslan Ashuraliyev from the USSR is an outspoken world-class athlete. Against Adolf Seger, however, he again failed to win. A draw against Seger was enough for him to win the tournament and the title.

In 1974 Mansour Barzegar won the Asian Games in Tehran ahead of Dandsandardschaagiin Sereeter from Mongolia and Mitsuo Degawa from Japan . However, he was absent from this year's World Cup. In 1975 he won the silver medal at the world welterweight championships in Minsk . He won there u. a. about Jiichirō Date from Japan, Dzewegiin Düwtschin from Mongolia and Jancho Pavlov from Bulgaria . In the final battle he lost to Ruslan Ashuraliyev on points. Incidentally, this year he also competed in two tournaments in Germany , both of which he won. At the Grand Prix of the Federal Republic of Germany in Aschaffenburg , he won ahead of Marin Pârcălabu from Romania and at the "Werner Seelenbinder" tournament in Leipzig he won ahead of Udo Schröder from the GDR a . Francis Lebeque from Cuba .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , he then won a medal. He won there over Giuseppe Spagnoli from Italy , Fred Hempel , Jarmo Övermark from Finland , Ruslan Aschuralijew, Jancho Pawlow and others.
