Hossein Tavakoli (born January 10, 1978 in Mahmoudabad; Persian حسین توکلی) Is an Iranian weightlifter in the heavyweight and participants at the Summer Olympics in 2000 in Sydney .

He won the gold medal in the 105 kg weight class at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . At the Asian Championships in 1999, which took place in Wuhan, Tavakoli competed in the 105 kg weight class and won the gold medal. Other significant achievements of Tavakolis are winning the silver medal at the 2004 Asian Championships in Almaty and the bronze medal at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha.
