Jaroslav Skobla
Jaroslav Skobla (born April 16, 1899 in Prague , † November 22, 1959 in Teplice nad Bečvou ) was a Czechoslovak weightlifter and Olympic champion .
Career
Skobla started lifting weights in 1921. He was a member of the SV Prague Police Sports Club. As early as 1923 he started at the World Championships in Vienna , which were, however, weak and won the light heavyweight title. He also competed in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. From 1925 to 1927 there were no international championships. He was therefore only at the start again at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam. With the gold medal at his third Olympic participation in 1932 in Los Angeles , he achieved the greatest victory of his career. After that he only started at smaller championships.
Jaroslav Skobla took great pleasure in his son Jíři Skobla , who was European champion in 1954 and bronze medalist in the shot put at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956.
