Tonje Kjærgaard (born June 11, 1975 in Silkeborg ) is a former Danish handball player .

Career

Kjærgaard made her debut in the women's team at Ikast-Bording EH at the age of 17 , to which she remained loyal until she retired in 2004. During this period, the cyclist celebrated a championship, three national cup wins and three European cup wins. At the beginning of the 2007/08 season, Kjærgaard pulled on again for six games the jersey of Ikast-Bording EH, who had to do without Isabel Blanco due to injury . After her career she became a teacher ; she teaches biology at a high school in Ikast.

Kjærgaard played 139 international matches for the Danish women's handball team , in which they scored 342 goals. With Denmark she won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in 1996 and 2000 , the World Championship in 1997 and the European Championship in 1994 and 1996.
