Lene Rantala (born August 10, 1968 in Gladsaxe ) is a Danish handball goalkeeper .
Club career
After Rantala had played in Denmark for FIF and Braband, she moved to the Norwegian club Toten HK in 1994 . Two years later she moved to IK Junkeren. Since 1997 she played with Larvik HK , with whom she won 40 national and international titles. After the 2013/14 season she ended her career and became a goalkeeping coach at Larvik HK. On December 30, 2014, she made her comeback in the final of the Norgesmesterskap, as Larvik's goalkeeper Alma Hasanić was out due to an injury.
In the championship game of the Postenligaen on September 12, 2010 between Selbu IL and Larvik HK, which ended 12:38 (11:14), Rantala allowed only one goal in the second half.
After her career, Rantala trained together with Tonje Larsen for the third division team Larvik Turn. Since summer 2018 she has been leading the goalkeeper training of the Dutch national women's handball team . In February 2019 she took over the coaching position at the Norwegian first division club Larvik HK until the end of the 2018/19 season.
National team
Rantala played 230 international matches for the Danish women's national handball team . With Denmark she won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games and the 2000 Olympic Games . She also won the 1994 European Championship , the 1996 European Championship , the 1997 World Championship and the 2002 European Championship .
