Denmark took part in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome with a delegation of 100 athletes (88 men and 12 women) in 46 competitions in 15 sports.

The Danish athletes won two gold and three silver medals and one bronze medal. Denmark finished 13th in the medal table . Olympic champions were the sailor Paul Elvstrøm in a Finn dinghy and the canoeist Erik Hansen in a single kayak over 1000 meters. The standard bearer at the opening ceremony was the modern pentathlete Benny Schmidt .
