Cuba took part in the 1960 Summer Olympics in the Italian capital of Rome with a delegation of twelve athletes, nine men and three women, in 15 competitions in eight sports.

It was Cuba's ninth participation in the Summer Olympics since 1900 .

The youngest athlete at 16 years and 220 days was the gymnast Julia Uria (16 years and 220 days), the oldest athlete in the fencer Abelardo Menéndez (32 years and one day).

Flag bearer

The wrestler José Yañez carried the flag of Cuba during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .
