Brazil took part in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome with a delegation of 72 athletes (71 men and one woman) in 35 competitions in 14 sports.

The Brazilian athletes won two bronze medals, placing Brazil in 39th place in the medal table. The medals were won by the swimmer Manuel dos Santos Júnior over 100 meters freestyle and the men's basketball team. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Adhemar da Silva .
