1960 Summer Olympics / Water polo

At the XVII. At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome , a water polo tournament was held that lasted from August 25 to September 3, 1960. The games took place in the Stadio del Nuoto and the Piscina delle Rose .

competition

The 16 teams of the Olympic tournament played against each other in four groups in the preliminary round. The first two teams in each group advanced to the round of the top eight, taking the results of the preliminary round with them. In the second round, those teams played against each other that had not already met in the preliminary round. The first two teams of the second round rose to places 1–4 in the final round, the other teams of the second round played for places 5–8; the results of the previous rounds were taken.
