Water polo

Two water polo competitions were held at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney .

The venue was the Aquatic Center in the Sydney Olympic Park . For the first time ever, a women's tournament was on the program.

Men's tournament

The four best teams from both preliminary round groups advanced to the quarter-finals. The fifth and sixth placed teams fought a round for places 9 to 12.
