Barnabás Steinmetz (born October 6, 1975 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian water polo player who normally plays in the right backcourt. Barnabás Steinmetz is 1.96 m tall and his competition weight is 98 kg.

Barnabás Steinmetz belongs to the generation of Hungarian water polo players who were able to build on the great successes of the 1950s from the 1990s.

Barnabás Steinmetz has been a member of the Hungarian national water polo team since 1993 and won silver at the European Championship in 1993. He was part of the team that won the European titles in 1997 and 1999 and finished second in the 1998 World Cup.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, the Hungarian team won with Barnabás Steinmetz. In 2001 he finished third at the European Championship and in 2003 he won the world title. In Athens at the 2004 Olympic Games , he helped defend the 2000 gold medal. In 2004 he played in the team with his brother Ádám Steinmetz .
