Zoltán Szécsi

Zoltán Szécsi (born December 22, 1977 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian water polo goalkeeper .

Szécsi began his career with the Budapest club Budapesti VSC , with which he was Hungarian champion from 1996 to 1999. After the 2004 Olympic Games, Szécsi changed clubs several times, including playing for Camogli in Italy.

Szécsi made his debut for the Hungarian national team in 1998. He won his first Olympic gold medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. After bronze at the European Championships in 2001 and 2003, the world championship title followed in Barcelona in 2003 . In Athens at the 2004 Olympic Games , he helped defend the 2000 gold medal. At the 2005 World Water Polo Championships , the team lost in the final against the team from Serbia and Montenegro, and two years later the Hungarians finished second behind Croatia at the 2007 World Water Polo Championships . At the 2008 Olympic Games , the Hungarians won the final against the team from the United States. For Szécsi it was the third Olympic victory in a row.

In 1999 the Hungarian team won the FINA World Cup , in 2002 and 2006 the Hungarians took second place.

Zoltán Szécsi is 1.98 m tall and his competition weight is 93 kg.
