Dante Rossi
Dante Rossi (born August 28, 1936 in Bologna , † March 15, 2013 in Lavagna ) was an Italian water polo player .
Dante Rossi started his career at PN Bologna and then moved to Sportiva Nervi in Genoa . From 1967 to 1969 he was Italian runner-up with Nervi three times in a row.
1958 Rossi was goalkeeper of the Italian national team at the European Championship and finished fourth. At the 1960 Olympic Games in front of a home crowd in Rome, Rossi was used in five of seven games, he was missing in the preliminary round against the teams of Japan and the United Arab Union. In the five games against European opponents, Rossi only allowed seven goals. The Italians won the second gold medal in water polo after 1948. In 1962 the Italians finished eighth at the European Championships. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, Rossi was used in six games, the Italians took fourth place.
Dante Rossi's sons Stefano and Giacomo later became first division players for Lazio.
