István Hevesi

István Hevesi (born April 2, 1931 in Eger ; † February 9, 2018 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian water polo player .

István Hevesi made 73 appearances for Hungary. He became Olympic champion with the Hungarian national water polo team in 1956 and won bronze at the 1960 Games. In 1954 and 1958 Hevesi was European champion with the Hungarian team.

After the Hungarian uprising was bloodily suppressed in 1956 , Hevesi was one of the six players who did not return to Hungary immediately after the 1956 Olympic Games. In 1958 he was back in the Hungarian team.
