Carlos Bardem (* 1963 in Madrid ) is a Spanish actor and writer .

Life

Carlos Bardem comes from a family with numerous members working in the film business. His mother Pilar Bardem (* 1939) is an actress like his siblings Mónica Bardem (* 1964) and Javier Bardem (* 1969). His uncle Juan Antonio Bardem (1922–2002) was an award-winning director.

Carlos Bardem studied history . He made his debut in the comedy Not Love, Just Frenzy from 1996. In the action film Perdita Durango (1997) he played the role of Reggie San Pedro on the side of Rosie Perez and Javier Bardem . In the film Código natural (2000) he took on one of the bigger roles similar to the film drama Bestiary (2002), for which he also wrote the screenplay.

In the film La Bicicleta (2006) he appeared next to his mother Pilar Bardem in one of the leading roles, in the action film Alatriste (2006) he played next to Pilar Bardem and Viggo Mortensen . In the film drama Goyas Geister (2006) by Miloš Forman , he played a French officer on the side of Natalie Portman , Javier Bardem and Stellan Skarsgård . He was nominated for the Goya for his role as a Colombian gangleader in the prison drama Cell 211 (2009) .

Bardem made his debut as a writer with the novel Muertes ejemplares from 1999, the plot of which is set in the 17th century.

In 2018 he was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
