So far, Brazil has had a quota place for the men's competition.

Soccer

As gold medal winners of the Copa America, the Brazilian soccer players qualified directly for the Olympic Games. The men's team managed to secure the Olympic ticket at the South American qualifying tournament in February 2020.

Handball

The handball women secured the Olympic ticket for Tokyo via the Pan American Games 2019.

Canoe racing

At the Canoe World Championships in Szeged 2019, the Brazilian canoeists secured three quota places for the Olympic Games in the men's C1 and C2.

Canoe slalom

In the course of the Canoe Slalom World Championships, the Brazilian team achieved quota places in the men's K-1, the women's K-1 and the women's C-1.

athletics

At the World Championships in Doha 2019, both the men's 4 * 100m relay and the 4 * 400m mixed relay were able to move into the finals, which is equivalent to the start authorization for Tokyo.

Modern pentathlon

Maria Iêda Guimarães qualified for the Olympic Games at the Pan American Games in Lima 2019.

On the Pan-American Games in 2019 , the Brazilian teams have been for all three disciplines in equestrian sport qualifies . Thus, the Brazilian delegation is already entitled to three starting places in each of the individual competitions.

The Brazilian women's 7-a-side rugby team won the South American qualifying tournament in Lima and thus the right to start in Tokyo 2020

At the 2019 World Swimming Championships, the three men's relay teams (4x100m and 4x200m freestyle and 4x100m medley) qualified for the Olympic Games.

According to the results of the previous qualification competitions, Brazilian sailors are competing in six of the ten boat classes at the Olympics: Laser (M), 49er (M), Finn (M), 49erFX (F), 470er (F) and Nacra 17 (MX)

At the gymnastics world championships in Stuttgart, the Brazilian men's squad qualified for the games in Tokyo, which the women's team surprisingly failed to do. Flavia Saraiva is the only gymnast to represent Brazil's colors in Japan.
