On December 9, 2019, WADA announced that Russia would be banned from the Olympic Games and World Championships for four years because of manipulated data from the Moscow laboratory.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, athletes from Russia were only allowed to start under a neutral flag if they could prove that they had not consumed any doping substances .

Russia has announced a protest against this decision.
