The road race of men in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will take place on July 24 2021st
Route
The race is started from Musashinonomori Park in Chofu . The athletes have to cover 234 kilometers to the finish line at Fuji Speedway and complete a total of 4,865 meters in altitude. The race initially runs through the mostly flat outskirts of Tokyo. After 80 kilometers there is an ascent on Dōshi Street with a total height of 1000 meters. The course continues through several small villages and dense forest to Lake Yamanaka in Yamanashi Prefecture . After crossing the Kagosaka Pass, there is a 15-kilometer descent. This is followed by an ascent of 14.3 kilometers on Fuji , the highest mountain in the country. The gradient in this part of the course averages 6.0%. Then the athletes drive to the section at Fuji Speedway. You cross the finish line twice and reach the last section of the route with the Mikuni Pass. Here an ascent with a length of 6.8 kilometers, a height of 1,159 meters and an average gradient of 10.2% has to be completed. In some places this section has a gradient of 20%. Along the Yamanaka Lake and over the Kagosaka Pass, the race will lead to the finish at Fuji Speedway.
