Germany will take part in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo . It will be the 25th participation in the Summer Olympics.

Archery Archery

By reaching the quarter-finals at the 2019 World Cup in 's-Hertogenbosch , the German women's team qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Thus, three German archers are also allowed to start in the individual competition.

The team in the men's floret was the first German team to qualify for the summer games in Tokyo. This means that three fencers are also allowed to start in the individual competition. The men's saber team was also able to secure qualification by finishing third in the World Cup in Luxembourg. This also means that three fencers are allowed to compete in the individual competition.

By reaching the semi-finals at the U-21 European Championship 2019 , the German men's team qualified. The women missed qualification by being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2019 World Cup .

At the 2019 World Championships in Szeged (Hungary), German racing canoeists paddled a total of 15 quota places in six of the 12 Olympic disciplines. Since the athletes may not only be used in the discipline in which the respective quota place was won, the German team in Tokyo can start in all 12 boat classes.

The open water swimmers Leonie Beck , Finnia Wunram , Rob Muffels and Florian Wellbrock qualified for the Olympics with a top ten placement at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju over 10 kilometers of freestyle. The German team has fought for the maximum possible starting places (three women / three men) for Tokyo through the successful European Games in 2019 . Both the women’s and men’s team won in Minsk and qualified for the Olympic Games in this way, which automatically secured two starting places for the individual competitions. With the gold medal from Patrick Franziska and Petrissa Solja , the mixed doubles also qualified for the games.

Triathlon Triathlon

The German triathlon team can no longer be displaced from a secure qualification place and is therefore entitled to start with the maximum number of participants in team and individual competitions in Tokyo.

Gymnastics do gymnastics

With the ninth place in the qualifying round (all-around team) at the Gymnastics World Championships 2019 , the German women's team secured a starting place in the Olympic tournament on October 5, 2019. The men also qualified for the team all-round competition with 12th place at the world championships. This means that German gymnasts automatically start in the individual equipment competitions as well as in the individual ranking of the all-around competition.
