The athletics competitions at the XXXII. The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will be held in the Olympic Stadium from July 30th to August 8th, 2021 . They were organized by World Athletics (until 2019 IAAF ). A total of 48 gold medals are awarded, 24 for men, 23 for women and one team medal. Most of the qualifications were made using the new World Athletics world rankings.
