In May 2017 she took part in the Hypomeeting in Götzis as a candidate for victory and fought a three-way battle with Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Carolin Schäfer on the first day . She set new records in the hurdles and the 200-meter run and equalized her own world record in a heptathlon of 1.98 m in the high jump. On the second day she set a new Belgian national record of 59.32 m in the javelin throw and achieved 7013 points with a new best performance over the 800 meters. Thiam crosses 2.01 m in Götzis

A jumped 2.01 m in the high jump, with which she was the first female heptathlete to overcome the 2-meter mark in an all-around competition, also contributed to this. The following day, a javelin throw 12 meters below her personal best prevented a European record that had been possible up to then, so that Thiam finally won the competition with 6806 points.
