Liliana Năstase (before and after her marriage to Alexandru ; born August 1, 1962 in Vânju Mare ) is a former Romanian athlete whose special disciplines were the heptathlon or pentathlon and the 100-meter hurdles .

Life

In the heptathlon she won silver at the Universiade in 1985 and gold in 1987. In the same discipline she was fifth at the 1987 World Championships in Rome .

At the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo , she won silver in the heptathlon and was eliminated from over 100 meter hurdles in the preliminary run.

The following year she won gold in the pentathlon at the European Indoor Championships in Genoa . In the summer she was fourth in the heptathlon at the Olympic Games in Barcelona and reached the quarterfinals over 100 meter hurdles.

1993 followed gold in the pentathlon at the World Indoor Championships in Toronto . At the World Championships in Stuttgart she was eliminated over 100 meter hurdles in the preliminary run.

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , she came in 22nd place in the heptathlon. Overall, she was six times national champion in the 100-meter hurdles (1984, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996) and seven times in the heptathlon. From 2002 to 2009 she was the trainer of Ionela Târlea .
