Urszula Włodarczyk (* 22. December 1965 in Wałbrzych ) is a former Polish athlete who in the heptathlon , in Hall pentathlon and triple jump could place at international events in the top eight. In 1998 she became European Indoor Champion and Outdoor Vice European Champion.

Career

Until 1995

In 1990 Urszula Włodarczyk surpassed her 32nd heptathlon with 6021 points for the first time, the 6000 point mark and thus won her second Polish championship title after 1988. In 1991, she improved at the Polish championships to 6374 points. At the Universiade in Sheffield, she finished second with 6319 points behind the German Birgit Clarius . Five weeks later, Włodarczyk increased their best performance at the World Championships in Tokyo to 6391 points and finished sixth. At the end of the 1991 season, she scored 6425 points in the invitation competition in Talence.

In 1992 Włodarczyk took part in the European Indoor Championships in Genoa and won the bronze medal behind the two Romanians Liliana Năstase and Petra Vaideanu with a personal best of 4651 points . In the outdoor season Włodarczyk won her fourth Polish championship title and finished eighth at the Olympic Games in Barcelona with 6333 points.

At the indoor world championships in 1993 the pentathlon was held as a demonstration competition and was not yet part of the official world championship program. Nastase won the competition with 4686 points ahead of Włodarczyk with 4667 points. After winning the Polish Championships in mid-June, she won the gold medal at the Universiade in Buffalo in mid-July with 6127 points. At the World Championships in Stuttgart , she achieved fifth place with 6394 points. In Stuttgart she also competed in the first triple jump and finished eighth with 13.80 m. Włodarczyk won four Polish triple jump championship titles from 1990 to 1994.

At the European Indoor Championships in 1994 in Paris-Bercy, Urszula Włodarczyk won the bronze medal behind the Russian Larissa Turtschinskaja and the Hungarian Rita Ináncsi , with 4668 points Włodarczyk improved her best by one point. In the open-air season she managed to win the bronze medal behind the German Sabine Braun and behind Rita Ináncsi at the European Championships in Helsinki with 6322 points, as in the hall . From 1996

The next major championships also took place in Sweden, at the European Indoor Championships in Stockholm in 1996, Włodarczyk finished second behind Russian Jelena Lebedenko with 4597 points . At the Olympic Games in Atlanta Włodarczyk was able to improve their almost five-year-old best to 6484 points. With that she reached fourth place, five points behind Briton Denise Lewis on the bronze rank. Three weeks after Atlanta, Włodarczyk took part again after three years in the Polish Championships and won with 6132 points.

In 1997 Włodarczyk took part in two indoor pentathlons. In Prague she won an invitation competition, at the World Indoor Championships in Paris-Bercy she missed the bronze medal by 14 points in fourth with 4613 points. At the Open Air World Championships in Athens she exceeded her personal best with 6542 points by 58 points, and in fourth place she was ultimately 24 more points short of bronze. Three weeks after Athens, Urszula Włodarczyk won her seventh and last Polish championship title in the heptathlon.

In 1998 she increased her indoor best performance to 4808 points and with this performance she won the title at the European Indoor Championships in Valencia. Outdoors she finished second at the European Championships in Budapest with 6460 points behind Denise Lewis . At the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi in 1999 , she achieved 4596 points and third place behind the American Le Shundra Nathan and the Russian Irina Belowa . Outdoors Włodarczyk had a weaker season, their season best of 6287 points meant seventh place at the World Championships in Seville .

In February 2000, Włodarczyk returned to the Polish Indoor Championships after five years and won her last national championship there. At the European Indoor Championships in Gent , she won bronze with 4590 points behind the German Karin Ertl and the Russian Irina Wostrikowa . In the open air season Włodarczyk completed six heptathlon, her season best she achieved at the Olympic Games in Sydney , when she was fourth with 6470 points. This competition was to be her last 6000-point competition. At the World Indoor Championships in 2001 in Lisbon , she finished eighth and last after injury.

In total, Włodarczyk achieved 54 heptathletes with more than 6000 points in her career, seven more than Sabine Braun , who is in second place on this all-time world best list (as of December 31, 2007). She won 12 Polish championship titles outdoors and 13 indoors. With a height of 1.80 m, she had a competition weight of 68 kg.
