Irina Nikolaevna Belovea
Irina Nikolajewna Belowa ( Russian Ирина Николаевна Белова , English transcription Irina Belova ; born March 27, 1968 in Angarsk ) was a Russian heptathlete.
She was 1.75 m tall and had a competition weight of 61 kg.
Life
Irina Belowa won four international medals:
- SILVER at the XV. 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona
- With 6845 points she was clearly behind Jackie Joyner-Kersee (gold with 7044 points) and just as clearly ahead of third-placed Sabine Braun (bronze with 6649 points)
- BRONZE at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo
- with 6448 points behind Sabine Braun (gold with 6672 points) and the Romanian Liliana Năstase (silver with 6493 points)
- SILVER at the 1998 European Indoor Championships in Valencia
- with 4631 points behind Polish Urszula Włodarczyk (gold with 4808 points) and ahead of German Karin Specht (bronze with 4523 points)
- SILVER at the 1999 World Indoor Championships in Maebashi
- with 4691 points behind Le Shundra Nathan (USA) (gold with 4753 points) and in front of the Polish Urszula Włodarczyk (bronze with 4596 points)
Without winning a medal, she took part in two other European championships :
- 1990 in Split (4th place with 6521 points; Sabine Braun won with 6688 points)
- 1998 in Budapest (5th place with 6375 points; Briton Denise Lewis won with 6559 points)
At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton , she came 8th with 6061 points ( Elena Prokhorova won with 6694 points). Then she ended her career.
In 1992 she won her only national championship (6523 points).
In 1993 she was banned for four years after a positive doping test.
