Svetlana Moskalez ( Russian Светлана Москалец ., English transcription Svetlana Moskalets * 22. January 1969 in Mytishchi ) is a former Russian athlete , in the five and heptathlon was successful.

Life

In 1994 she became the first Russian heptathlon champion with a personal best of 6598 points. In the same year she finished fifth at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki with 6308 points.

Moskalez had her most successful season in 1995. She won the Russian pentathlon championships with a national record of 4866 points. At the following World Indoor Athletics Championships in Barcelona she secured the title with 4834 points, ahead of the American Kym Carter (4632 points) and her compatriot Irina Tjuchai (4622 points). Eventually, Moskalez won the silver medal in the heptathlon at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg . With 6575 points she placed behind the Syrian Ghada Shouaa (6651 points) and in front of the Hungarian Rita Ináncsi (6522 points).

In 1996, Moskalez won her second Russian heptathlon championship with 6211 points. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta she reached only 14th place with a score of 6118. At the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 , she gave up the competition early.

Svetlana Moskalez is 1.72 m tall and had a competition weight of 62 kg.
