Brianne Theisen-Eaton (* 18th December 1988 in Humboldt , Saskatchewan as Brianne Theisen ) is a former Canadian athlete .

Life

Theisen grew up in Humboldt as the daughter of a German family. She discovered her passion for the sport during her school days and took part in junior athletics world championships . In 2007, through an athlete's scholarship , she was given the opportunity to study public administration at the University of Oregon at Eugene , where she continued her career.

In Berlin, she reached fifteenth place at the 2009 World Championships . She was able to finish the competition of the female heptides within the scope of the Olympic Games 2012 in London in eleventh place. She won the silver medal at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow . She reached 6530 points, 56 less than the winner Hanna Melnytschenko . In doing so, she also set a new personal best.

At the 2014 World Indoor Championships in Sopot , she won the silver medal in the pentathlon behind Nadine Broersen. At the Commonwealth Games in the same year, she won gold in the heptathlon with 6597 points.

On 30./31. May 2015 Theisen-Eaton set a new national record with 6808 points at the all- around meeting Götzis . At the 2015 World Championships in Beijing , Theisen-Eaton was considered a gold favorite, but could not do it justice and achieved the silver medal with a good 800-meter run after she had previously been in third place.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she won the bronze medal with 6653 points.

At the beginning of 2017, she and her husband jointly announced their resignation. The reason they gave was a lack of athletic goals.

Personal

While studying, she met her future husband Ashton Eaton , whom she married in July 2013. She lives with him in Eugene .
