Glynis Nunn

Glynis Nunn (born Glynis Leanne Saunders, second marriage to Cearns ; born December 4, 1960 in Toowoomba , Queensland ) is a former Australian athlete and Olympic champion .

In 1977 she was at the Athletics World Cup in Düsseldorf , she was eighth in the 100 meter hurdles . In the pentathlon of the Commonwealth Games 1978 in Edmonton was injured after the second discipline.

At the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982 she won the heptathlon , was sixth in the 100 meter hurdles and seventh in the long jump . In 1983 she was seventh in the heptathlon at the World Championships in Helsinki and reached the semi-finals over 100 meter hurdles.

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , boycotted by the Eastern Bloc , she won the gold medal in the heptathlon ahead of the American Jackie Joyner (silver) and the German Sabine Everts (bronze), was fifth in the 100 meter hurdles and seventh in the long jump.

In the 100 meter hurdles she was fifth at the 1985 Athletics World Cup in Canberra, won bronze at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh and was fifth at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh .

She was Australian champion in the 100 meter hurdles five times (1982-1986) and in the pentathlon and heptathlon (1978, 1980-1982, 1984).

In 1982 she married the decathlete Chris Nunn, in 1988 David Cearns.
