Kyron McMaster (born January 3, 1997 in Road Town ) is a 400-meter hurdler from the British Virgin Islands .

Athletic career

Kyron McMaster gained his first international experience at the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships in 2012 in San Salvador , where he finished seventh in the high jump with 1.85 m and eliminated over 400 meters in the first round. At the CARIFTA Games 2013 in Nassau he was fifth over 400 meters and seventh over 200 meters. At the Youth World Championships in Donetsk , he was eliminated over 200 and 400 meters in the preliminary run. At the CARIFTA Games 2014 in Fort-de-France , he finished sixth over 400 meters and won the bronze medal over 400 meter hurdles in 52.85 s. About this discipline he took part in the Junior World Championships in Eugene , but dropped out there in the first round. He then took part in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , but was disqualified there in the preliminary stages.

In 2015 he reached the final of the Pan American Junior Championships in Edmonton , but then could not finish his final run. In 2016 he took part in the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz , where he won the bronze medal in 49.56 s. In 2017 he qualified for the World Championships in London and was disqualified there because of a track violation in the second run . In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time , where he won the gold medal in 48.25 s and thus won the first ever gold medal for the British Virgin Islands.

In 2017 he won the IAAF Diamond Race .
