Pedro Pablo Pichardo (born June 30, 1993 ) is a Portuguese triple jumper born in Cuba .

In 2012 he became Central America and Caribbean Junior Champion and won the Junior World Championships in Barcelona .

In 2013 he set his personal record on June 4th in Havana with 17.69 m. With that he led the world best of the year until the World Championships in Moscow . There he had to admit defeat only Teddy Tamgho (18.04 m) with 17.68 m .

On May 28, 2015, he increased his personal best in Havana to 18.08 m, after having exceeded the 18-meter mark for the first time on May 15 in Doha with 18.06 m. He is now in fourth place on the all-time world best list. In July 2015 he won gold with 17.54 meters at the Pan American Games in Toronto . He won the silver medal at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing .

In April 2017 he disappeared in Stuttgart, where the Cuban team was staying for a training camp, only to sign a contract with Benfica Lisbon a few days later . In December it was announced that he had obtained Portuguese citizenship. The recognition by the IAAF and thus the international starting authorization for Portugal was granted in October 2018 for the period from August 1, 2019 and thus in time for the 2019 World Championships in Doha .

On May 4, 2018, he won the Diamond League Meeting in Doha with 17.95 m . The Portuguese Association recognized the distance as a national record , with which Pichardo Nelson Evora's old record of 17.74 m replaced. After two second places with widths of 17.61 m and 17.60 m in Lausanne and Monaco behind Christian Taylor , he was able to defeat this in the Diamond League final in Brussels with 17.49 m and secure the prize of 50,000 US dollars.
