Kristjan Čeh (born February 17, 1999 in Ptuj ) is a Slovenian discus thrower who also competes in the shot put .

Athletic career

Kristjan Čeh gained his first international experience in 2016, when he was eliminated from the qualification at the first European Youth Championships in Tbilisi with a width of 47.49 m. Also at the U20 European Championships in Grosseto the following year , he was eliminated without a valid attempt in qualifying. In 2018, Čeh won the silver medal behind the Cypriot Apostolos Parellis at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona with a throw of 62.03 m . He then took part in the U20 World Championships in Tampere , but failed with 56.47 m in qualification. In 2019 he won the U23 European Championships in Gävle with 63.82 m and thus also qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where he did not reach the final with 59.55 m .

On June 7th, at a meeting in Domžale , he improved the national record held by Igor Primc in the discus throw since 1999 to 66.29 m. A good two weeks later, at the International Athletics Meeting in Maribor ( Slovenia ) on June 23, he set a U23 world record in the discus throw with 68.75 m, replacing Wolfgang Schmidt, who was 68, in 1996 in Cologne at the age of 22. Threw 60 yards.

In 2019 and 2020 , Čeh was the Slovenian champion in discus throwing and in 2020 indoor champion in the shot put.
