Robeilys Mariley Peinado Méndez [ roˈbeɪliːs pei̯ˈnaðo ] (born November 26, 1997 in Caracas ) is a Venezuelan pole vaulter .

Athletic career

Robeilys Peinado was born in Venezuela. She started gymnastics at the age of three, but switched to pole vaulting when she was twelve .

She has been living in Poland for some time , where she trains at the OSOT Szczecin club under her coach Wiaczesław Kalinichenko.

At the 2013 World Athletics Championships in Donetsk , Peinado won gold with a height of 4.25 m. She also came second at the Pan American Junior Championships in Colombia and won the Juegos Bolivarianos in Peru. A year later she took silver with 4.10 m behind the Swiss Angelica Moser at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing . At the South American Games in Chile she won the silver medal and qualified for the Junior World Championships in Eugene , where she was eliminated in the qualification without a valid level. At the South American U23 championships she won with 3.90 m, came third at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Mexico and won the gold medal again at the U18 South American championships.

In 2015, at the age of 17, Peinado took part in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto and came in sixth with 4.40 m. In addition, she won the gold medal at the South American Championships with a jump of 4.35 m. She also won the South American Junior Championships and the Pan American Junior Championships in Edmonton, Canada . With these achievements, she qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated with a jump of 4.30 m in qualification . In 2016 she won the silver medal behind Angelica Moser at the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland .

In 2017 Peinado won the gold medal as the favorite starting at the South American Championships in Asunción , where she jumped 4.50 m. With this she secured a starting place at the world championships. Shortly before, she had achieved the required standard with a new national record of 4.65 m, set at the Diamond League Meeting in Stockholm . In August she started at the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London and qualified for the final here. In this she won the bronze medal with a height of 4.65 m together with Yarisley Silva behind Ekaterini Stefanidi and Sandi Morris . In November she won the gold medal at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta with 4.20 m.

In 2013 Peinado became the Venezuelan champion in pole vault.
