Jemma Reekie (born March 6, 1998 ) is a British middle-distance runner .

Athletic career

Jemma Reekie gained her first international experience in 2017 at the U20 European Championships in Grosseto , where she won the gold medal in the 1500 meter run in 4: 13.25 minutes and finished fourth over 3000 meters with 9: 24.81 minutes . The following year she qualified over 1500 meters for the European Championships in Berlin , where she was eliminated in the first round with 4: 10.35 minutes. In 2019 she took part in the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow , but also dropped out there with 4: 13.44 minutes in advance. In July she celebrated a double victory over 800 and 1500 meters at the U23 European Championships in Gävle in 2: 05.19 min and 4: 22.81 min. Over 1500 meters, she also got a starting place for the World Championships in Doha in October, where she was eliminated with 4: 12.51 min in the second run .

In February 2020, Reekie set a new British indoor record in the 800-meter run in Glasgow with 1: 57.91 minutes , replacing the previous record holder Jenny Meadows . Her running time has not been undercut since 2006 and brought her to eleventh place on the all-time best list in the hall (as of 2020).

In 2019 Reekie became British indoor champion in the 1500 meter run.
