Marvin Schlegel (born January 2, 1998 in Frankenberg , Saxony ) is a German athlete who mainly specializes in long sprints and relays .

career path

Schlegel is a police chief candidate in the sports promotion group of the federal police .

Athletic career

Marvin Schlegel played soccer as a child and switched to athletics at the age of twelve, where he came to the performance center at LAC Erdgas Chemnitz .

In 2014 and 2015 Schlegel was German U18 champion in the 400-meter run . In 2016 he was able to repeat this success in the older age group as the German U20 champion .

Internationally, Schlegel took 4th place at the U18 World Championships in 2015 with the 4 x 400 meter mixed relay and in 2016 came 5th at the U20 World Championships with the 4 x 400 meter relay .

In 2017 he was German U20 indoor runner- up over 400 meters and won bronze on the stadium round at the German U20 championships . At this distance Schlegel reached 5th place in the older age group at the German U23 championships and also took part in the European Indoor Championships .

In 2018 Schlegel came bronze at the German indoor championships for active athletes over 400 meters, was German U23 runner-up and took fourth place at the German championships on the stadium circuit and with the 4 x 400 meter relay.

In 2019 he became German indoor runner-up in the 400-meter distance. With the mixed relay, Schlegel came 7th at the World Relays . In the U23 class he became German U23 champion (400 m) and U23 European champion (4 × 400 m). Schlegel was able to become German runner- up at the stadium and took part in the world championships with the mixed relay .

Schlegel is part of the perspective squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV).
