The Athletics Club Erdgas Chemnitz eV (short: LAC Erdgas Chemnitz ) is a Chemnitz sports club . 469 members (2009) are looked after by five full-time trainers and ten instructors.
The training facility is the Sportforum Chemnitz . President is the former Lord Mayor of the city, Peter Seifert , 1st chairman is Jens Carlowitz . The managing director is the former 400 meter world champion Thomas Schönlebe , the sports warden is Bernd Schubert .
The club emerged in 1993 from the merger of the athletics section of SC Chemnitz and VfL Chemnitz. It was given the name of the Athletics Club Chemnitz and was renamed the Erdgas Chemnitz Athletics Club in 1998.
