The marathon of women in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will take place on August 8. The start and finish should originally be in the Olympic Stadium and the route should lead through the Imperial Palace Garden . After several athletes had health problems at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha due to the climatic conditions, the IOC announced in October 2019 that it would move the marathons and competitions in the cooler Sapporo to Hokkaidō at the games . The new venue is now Ōdōri Park .
