The Berlin Marathon 2020 (officially: BMW Berlin Marathon 2020 ) would have been the 47th edition of the annual running event in Berlin , Germany . The marathon was to take place on September 26th and 27th .
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic , it was not carried out for the first time since 1974. After extensive testing and various discussions, including with authorities, the organizing SCC Berlin had to run the marathon later in the year due to the Berlin Corona Regulation and the uncertainty as to which conditions would still apply at a later point in time and whether participants would then also be can travel internationally, determined to take this step.
The registered participants can transfer their personalized starting right to the coming year (25 and 26 September 2021) or have the participation fee reimbursed.
