The marathon men at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will take place on 9 August. Originally the start and finish should be in the newly built Olympic Stadium and the route should lead through the Imperial Palace Garden . After several athletes had health problems at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha due to the climatic conditions, the IOC announced in October 2019 that it would move the marathons and competitions in the cooler Sapporo to Hokkaidō at the games . The new venue is now Ōdōri Park .
