The men's marathon at the 1906 Olympic Intermediate Games was held on May 1, 1906. It led from Marathon to Athens to the Panathinaiko Stadium . In doing so, he oriented himself on the path that the ancient messenger Pheidippides is said to have taken when he defeated the Persians in 490 BC. Proclaimed. Compared to the event in 1896, the route was changed slightly, so that this time the distance was almost 42 kilometers. In contrast to the other disciplines, the minimum age for participants was set at 21.

Results
In the first half of the race, the Australian Blake and the American Frank were ahead. At about 25 km, Sherring took the lead and continuously expanded it to the finish. The Swede Svanberg overtook William Frank just before the stadium and secured second place.
