The men's Greek style discus throw at the 1906 Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens was decided on May 1, 1906. The participants had three attempts each, the three best then another three attempts. Throws in the style of Myron's famous antique discus thrower were required . It was thrown from a raised, forward-sloping platform measuring 80 × 70 centimeters and 15 to 5 centimeters high. A side straddle position was required, and swings back and forth had to be performed before the throw.

The Greek thrower Georgandas doubted whether Järvinen's throwing style corresponded to the requirements of the regulations, but his protest was unsuccessful. Martin Sheridan denied the standing vault parallel to the discus throw, where he won the silver medal.
