Wilkinson and Spiegler crossed the finish line first, but were disqualified for violating correct walking technique. Bonhag, too, who competed in his very first walking competition, is said to have broken the rules permanently. However, in the event of a stalemate with the voice of the Greek Crown Prince , the jury decided not to disqualify him. Other sources say that a new competition between Bonhag and Linden had been scheduled, in which the former did not start.
