Tokyo Marathon 2020

The Tokyo Marathon 2020 ( Japanese 東京 マ ラ ソ ン 2020 , Tōkyō Marason 2020 ) was the fourteenth edition of the annual running event in Tokyo , Japan .

The marathon took place on March 1st, 2020. It was the fourth run of the World Marathon Major 2019/20 and had the Platinum label of the World Athletics Label Road Races 2020 . Around 40,000 starters were originally expected at this race, but due to the coronavirus pandemic , only 200 elite athletes were allowed to start in the Japanese capital.

In the men’s category, last year's winner Birhanu Legese defended his title in 2:04:15 hours, and in the women’s category , Lonah Chemtai Salpeter set a new course record with 2:17:45 hours.
