Bashir Abdi
Bashir Abdi (born February 10, 1989 in Mogadishu , Somalia ) is a Belgian long-distance runner of Somali origin.
In 2012 he was eighth over 5000 m and fourth over 10,000 m at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki . At the European Cross Country Championships in Budapest he was ninth.
In 2013 he came in 23rd place at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow over 10,000 m. The Cross Country Championships in he was eighth and won with the Belgian team silver.
At the 2014 European Championships in Zurich he was fifth over 10,000 m and took 16th place over 5000 m. In 2015 he did not reach the finish line at the World Championships in Beijing over 10,000 m.
In 2012 he became Belgian cross-country champion .
At the European Championships in Berlin in 2018 , he won the silver medal over 10,000 m.
At the Tokyo Marathon 2020 he finished second in a time of 2:04:49 h (personal best / Belgian national record).
