Amos Kipruto made it to the top of the national running team in 2013. In 2014, he won a road race over 15 kilometers in Istanbul. A year later he was able to occupy top places in two half marathons, also in Turkey. In April 2016, Kipruto won the Rome Marathon in 2:08:12 ; In 2017, in March, he won the Seoul Marathon . He set his best time of 2:05:43 h over the marathon distance at the Amsterdam Marathon in October , where he finished fifth. In 2018 he finished second in the Berlin Marathon . In 2019 he qualified as one of three Kenyan starters for the marathon at the World Championships in Doha. In 2:10:51 h, he won the bronze medal under difficult climatic conditions, just a little more than ten seconds behind the world champion Lelisa Desisa from Ethiopia. In 2020, Kipruto finished 18th in the Tokyo Marathon in 2:08:00 h after aiming for a personal best in the region at 2:03:00 h.
