Kapsabet is the capital of the Kenyan Nandi County with 22,804 inhabitants in the urban area and a total of 91,030 inhabitants in the rural administrative district (2009). Kapsabet is 40 km southwest of Eldoret in the settlement area of the Nandi .

Kapsabet has several primary and secondary schools and a school for the deaf. There is a hospital with 124 beds.

Kapsabet belongs to the Diocese of Eldoret of the Roman Catholic Church and to the Diocese of Eldoret of the Anglican Church . This is operated by St. Paul's Theological College in Kapsabet.
