Dickson Kiptolo Chumba (born October 27, 1986 ) is a Kenyan marathon runner .

Career

Dickson Kiptolo Chumba worked as a gardener before starting running training in 2008 under the guidance of Italian coach Claudio Berardelli.

In 2010 he finished second at the Madrid Marathon and the Maratona d'Italia . The following year he won the Rome Marathon and was seventh in the Frankfurt Marathon .

In 2012 he finished second in the Xiamen marathon , ninth in the CPC Loop Den Haag and won the Eindhoven marathon in a new personal best.

On February 23, 2014 he won the Tokyo Marathon in 2:05:42 h, which he was able to win again in 2018. Also in 2014 he won the Chicago Marathon in a personal best of 2:04:32 hours. He achieved another victory on October 11, 2015 at the Chicago Marathon , for which he needed 2:09:25 h.

In February 2018, the 31-year-old won the Tokyo Marathon for the second time after 2014 in 2:05:30 h . He finished third at the Bogotá Half Marathon in late July and failed to finish at the Chicago Marathon in October. In 2019 he finished third in the Tokyo Marathon .
