Chicago Marathon 2018

The 2018 Chicago Marathon (officially: Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2018 ) was the 41st edition of the annual running event in Chicago , United States . The marathon took place on October 7, 2018. It was the second run of the World Marathon Majors 2018/19 and had the gold label of the IAAF Road Race Label Events 2018 .

In the men's race, Mo Farah from the United Kingdom won 2:05:11 hours, beating the European record of the Norwegian Sondre Nordstad Moen by 37 seconds. The Japanese Suguru Osako in third place achieved an Asian record with his time of 2:05:50 hours and thus secured a bonus of 100 million yen (at this point around 760,000 euros). Defending champion Galen Rupp from the United States finished fifth. In the women’s category, Brigid Kosgei, second in the previous year, won with a personal best of 2:18:35 hours.

A total of 44,551 runners (23,913 men and 20,638 women) crossed the finish line in the 2018 Chicago Marathon.
