The 2001 Chicago Marathon (officially: LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon 2001 ) was the 24th edition of the annual running event in Chicago , United States . The marathon took place on October 7, 2001.

Benedict Muli Kimondiu won the men’s race in 2:08:52 h, and Catherine Ndereba won the women’s in 2:18:47 h.
