Shure Demise

Shure Demise (born January 31, 1996 ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner .

In her marathon debut at the 2015 Dubai Marathon , she set a new junior world record of 2:20:59 h, when she came in fourth. On April 20, 2015, she finished 8th in the Boston Marathon . She needed 2:27:14 h for the run. In October she won the Toronto Waterfront Marathon with 2:23:37 h. In 2016, she finished sixth in the Tokyo Marathon . She won the Ethiopian Championships in the 10,000 meter run and was fifth over this distance at the African Championships in Durban . At the end of the season, she successfully defended her title at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon.

In 2017 Demise finished second behind her compatriot Worknesh Degefa at the Dubai Marathon . At the World Championships in London , she finished fifth in the marathon. In 2018 she finished fourth in the Tokyo Marathon and third in the Chicago Marathon .
