Senbere Teferi Sora ( Amharic ሰንበሬ ተፈሪ ; * May 3, 1995 ) is an Ethiopian middle and long distance runner .

Career

In 2011 Senbere Teferi was second in the 1500 meter run in 4: 10.54 min at the World Youth Championships in Lille .

She got a bronze medal in the 1500 meter run at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona in 2012 when she crossed the finish line with a new personal best of 4: 08.28 minutes and came third.

At the 2013 World Championships in Moscow , she finished 30th in the 1,500 meter run.

At the 2015 World Cross Country Championships in Guiyang, she finished second and led Ethiopia to victory in the team championship. On August 30, 2015, she won the silver medal in the 5000 meter run at the World Championships in Beijing . It took her for run 14: 44.07 min. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she finished fifth over this distance in 14: 43.75 m.

At the 2017 World Cross Country Championships in Kampala, she was tenth in the individual standings and won silver in the team standings with Ethiopia. At the World Championships in London , she narrowly missed a medal in fourth over 5000 meters.

In 2018 she finished ninth in the Dubai Marathon in 2:24:11 hours and second in the World 10K Bangalore in 31:22 minutes. At the Diamond League meeting in Rabat, she increased her best performance in the 5000 meter run to 14: 23.33 min. In the Delhi half marathon, she did not reach the goal.

In February 2019, the then 23-year-old won the RAK half marathon in the United Arab Emirates in 1:05:45 h as close as possible to her countrywoman Netsanet Gudeta , who entered the results list at the same time.
