Wolha Sjarhejeuna Masuronak ( Belarusian Вольга Сяргееўна Мазуронак ; English Volha Mazuronak * 14. April 1989 in Karaganda , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Belarusian long-distance runner .

Athletic career

Wolha Masuronak gained her first international experience at the 2005 World Cross Country Championships in Saint-Galmier , where she finished 100th in the individual junior ranking and 17th in the team ranking. She then took part in the 5000-meter walk at the World Youth Championships in Marrakech , where she finished fourth in 22: 52.06 min. In 2006 she took fifth place at the Junior World Championships in Beijing over 10,000 meters and was disqualified at the 2007 Junior European Championships in Hengelo over the same distance. She then temporarily ended her career as a track and field athlete and only returned after four years, but has since specialized in long-distance running.

In 2013 she took part in the half marathon at the Summer Universiade in Kazan , where she finished 14th in 1:17:07 h. In addition, she came second in the Lodz Marathon in 2:33:33 h. In 2014 she qualified over 10,000 meters for the European Championships in Zurich , where she finished seventh in 32: 31.15 minutes. She also won the Sacramento California International Marathon in 2:27:33 h. In 2015 she won the Minsk Half Marathon and won the silver medal in the 5000 meter run at the Military World Games in Mungyeon, South Korea . At the London Marathon she finished ninth with a time of 2:25:36 h. In 2016 she finished fourth with a new national record in the London Marathon and won again at the Minsk Half Marathon. She also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she finished fifth in 2:24:48 h , making her the best European. In 2017 she finished second in the Valencia Marathon .

2018 she won at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in 2018 ranked 18th in the marathon of the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin Masuronak could with a finishing time of 2:26:22 hours ahead of Frenchwoman Clémence Calvin and the Czech Eva Vrabcová-Nývltová place on the Gold Rank .

In 2013 Masuronak became the Belarusian champion over 5000 and 10,000 meters and in 2014 over 10,000 meters. In addition, she won the indoor championship title over 3000 meters in 2018.
